It is said that before the stars found their place in the firmament, there were only feathers suspended in the void. They were fragments of primordial light, carrying ancient memories and future possibilities. When they began to vibrate, the sky ignited: the first constellations were born.
In 2026, those feathers awaken once again along the shores of Torre dell’Orso during the fifth edition of the BAROQUE BLUE art residency with the project “Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers”, guided by the visionary curatorship of Dores Sacquegna and organized by Primo Piano LivinGallery. The journey culminates on June 25 with “The Feather of Alliance”, a final ceremony celebrating the encounter between the artists, the land, and the transforming sky.
An Atlas of Light and Metamorphosis
“Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers” is a journey along the subtle threshold between fragility and immensity. Each artist receives an archetype—a direction‑feather, a seed of vision that becomes compass, mirror, and promise. Their trajectories do not simply add up: they amplify one another, like waves recognizing themselves in the same sea. Torre dell’Orso becomes a symbolic harbor: the rock holds memory, the sea holds origin, the wind carries the message, the night reveals. It is a landscape that bears the memory of the sky. Here, the artists move like metamorphic stars, called to embody a gesture that is both intimate and cosmic.
Guiding the journey is Dores Sacquegna, in the role of cosmic cartographer. Together with Maria Maddalena Armenise, she activates the Feather of the Alliance, an echo of the North Star, marking the completion of the journey of the eight stellar feathers (the Feather of the Guardian, of the Sea, of Sound, of the Wayfarer, of the Oracle, of Silence, and of Fire). Feathers that become paths through the landscape, inspiring artists to create their works on site. An atlas of light that takes shape through gestures, presences, and contemporary art.
The Stars of the Journey and the four Phases of the Rite
Seventeen artists/archetypes—nine international and eight from Apulia—compose a sky in motion. The international artists bring shifting visions, metamorphoses, thresholds, and fluid memories: they are the wandering stars, energies that traverse and open boundaries. They are Nancy Barwell, Philip Barwell, Lark Pilinsky, Laurence Vittes, Tatiana Yartseva, Victoria Williamson, Julie Moss, Amanda Keegan and Karen Partridge.
Artists from Apulia embody roots, matter, symbols, and depth. They are the fixed stars, the energies that sustain, structure, and ground, forming a “cosmic body” in harmony with the shifting trajectories of the international guests. They are Maria Maddalena Armenise, Ugo Bordanza, Claudio Rizzo, Gabriella Marra, Gianni Chiriatti, Alberto Nick Bolettieri, Daniela Cecere and Claudio Longo.
The journey is divided into four phases: departure, pause, immersion, and arrival. As the group enters its archetype, it engages with the landscape, moves through the rhythm of the Solstice, and, during the pause, recognizes itself as a cosmic body. In this phase, a series of interventions begins, culminating in the performance “EIGHT: The Resonances of the Wandering Color,” featuring the acoustic and electronic notes of musician and multi-instrumentalist Maestro Alberto Nick Bolettieri in an interactive, rhythmic sound painting in dialogue with artist Daniela Cecere.
On June 25, the closing ceremony of The Feather of the Alliance brings the journey to a close: a feather that becomes a bridge, a sky that opens, and individual paths that intertwine into a single luminous map. A landscape of pure magic, where sky and earth, gesture and breath, art and ritual come together in a single vibration. On display are the works created by the artists during the residency, curated and presented by Dores Sacquegna.
The evening begins with *The Song of the Archetypes: The Cosmic Body*, led by Maria Maddalena Armenise, and the solo *Meditation on Integration: The Chanting Rhythm of the Celestial Cycles*, performed by Maestro Alberto Nick Bolettieri, and continues with Francesco Perrone’s percussion piece *The Archetypal Voice of the Earth*. The evening concludes with the Flag Dinner and Welcome Drink in a convivial gathering that celebrates the alliance between cultures, presences, and visions.
