It is said that before the stars found their place in the firmament, there were only feathers suspended in the void. They were fragments of primordial light, carrying ancient memories and future possibilities. When they began to vibrate, the sky ignited: the first constellations were born.
In 2026, those feathers awaken once again along the shores of Torre dell’Orso during the fifth edition of the BAROQUE BLUE art residency. The project “Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers”, organized by Primo Piano LivinGallery and guided by the visionary curatorship of Dores Sacquegna, weaves together art and cosmos, ritual and landscape, transforming the territory into a living atlas of light and metamorphosis. The journey culminates on June 25 with “The Feather of Alliance”, a final ceremony celebrating the encounter between the artists, the land, and the transforming sky.
An Atlas of Light and Metamorphosis
“Constellations: The Awakening of the Star Feathers” is a journey along the subtle threshold between fragility and immensity. Each artist receives an archetype—a direction‑feather, a seed of vision that becomes compass, mirror, and promise. Their trajectories do not simply add up: they amplify one another, like waves recognizing themselves in the same sea. Torre dell’Orso becomes a symbolic harbor: the rock holds memory, the sea holds origin, the wind carries the message, the night reveals. It is a landscape that bears the memory of the sky. Here, the artists move like metamorphic stars, called to embody a gesture that is both intimate and cosmic.
Two threshold figures guide the journey: Dores Sacquegna, as cosmic cartographer, and Maria Maddalena Armenise, as guardian of the threshold. Together they activate The Feather of Alliance, echoing the North Star, marking the completion of the path traced by the star feathers: the Feather of the Guardian, of the Sea, of Sound, of the Wanderer, of the Oracle, of Silence, of Fire. These directions become inner and creative pathways, inspiring the artists in the making of their site‑specific works.
The Stars of the Journey
Eighteen artists—nine international and nine from Puglia—compose a sky in motion.
The international artists bring mobile visions, metamorphoses, thresholds, fluid memories: they are the wandering stars, energies that cross and open boundaries. They include Nancy Barwell (The Shifting Border), Philip Barwell (The Architect of Time), Lark Pilinsky (The Dreamer), Laurence Vittes (The Story Weaver), Tatiana Yartseva (The Metamorphosis), Victoria Williamson (The Flame), Julie Moss (The Healer), Amanda Keegan (The Border Sentinel), and Karen Partridge (Liquid Memory).
The artists from Puglia embody roots, matter, symbols, density. They are the fixed stars, the energies that sustain, structure, and anchor the constellation, forming a “cosmic body” in balance with the wandering trajectories of the international guests. They include: Ugo Bordanza (The Weaver of Frequencies), Claudio Rizzo (The Wanderer), Gabriella Marra (The Alchemist), Angelo Urso (The Sounding Heart), Grazia De Palma / Miss Grace (The Keeper of Rhythm), Gianni Chiriatti (The Son of the Earth), Alberto Nick Bolettieri (The Resonator), Daniela Cecere (The Silent Spring), and Claudio Longo (The Storyteller).
Together, these eighteen presences form a living constellation: a dialogue of forces that seek, respond, and transform, offering the public a sky in metamorphosis.
The Four Phases of the Rite
Departure – The archetype is delivered: the feather ignites, and the inner journey begins. Each artist recognizes their symbolic direction and opens the space of vision.
Pause – On June 19, the group recognizes itself as a living constellation. In this threshold emerges “OTTO: Resonances of the Wandering Color”, the sound painting by Daniela Cecere with maestro Alberto Nick Bolettieri, activating shared listening and collective vibration.
Immersion – Each artist enters their archetype, listens to the territory, and aligns with the rhythm of the Solstice. Research becomes gesture, matter, and relationship with the landscape.
The Feather of Alliance
On June 25, the final ceremony seals the journey: a feather becomes a bridge, a sky opens. It is the moment when individual trajectories intertwine into a single luminous map—a passage of pure magic where sky and earth, gesture and breath, art and ritual converge. The exhibition presents the contemporary artworks created during the residency, guided and introduced by Dores Sacquegna. This is followed by “The Song of Archetypes: The Cosmic Body”, led by Maria Maddalena Armenise, featuring three sound actions: Meditation on Integration: Canticle Rhythm of Celestial Cycles by maestro Alberto Nick Bolettieri, MANTIS: The Machine of Sound Dreams – AURORA BOREALIS by Miss Grace (Grazia De Palma) with maestro Angelo Urso, The Archetypal Voice of the Earth by percussionist Francesco Perrone. The evening concludes with a Flag Dinner and Welcome Drink, offered by the artists and Primo Piano LivinGallery, celebrating an alliance of cultures, presences, and visions.
